About Me

I’m Channy, also known as the Goblin. I’m a writer with a few different novels in the works. I really love the different processes involved in making a novel, especially those little tricks that help get us over difficult hurdles. These tips will be shared, so look forward to that.

I have always wanted to be a writer from a young age. I loved reading, but I wasn’t turned to fantasy until my brothers, wanting me out of their hair, handed me the 1st Xanth book, A Spell for Chameleon. I was blown away by all the new vocabulary, vivid world, zaniness, and magical creatures. After that, I devoured fantasy books voraciously throughout elementary and middle school. I read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Ursula K. Le Guin’s A Wizard of Earthsea, Salvatore’s Dark Elf Trilogy, Terry Brooks, and so many more.

And these books helped me survive childhood in the eighties and nineties. They held worlds where monsters didn’t win, where people were brave and stood up for their friends, where the odds could be beat, and even when things were hopeless, if the good guys kept trying, they had a chance.

Obviously, I did not read too much horror then. But don’t be mistaken! I do love good horror.

So for all my life, I couldn’t help but make stories like the ones I grew up loving. My immense imagination endlessly spilled onto paper and, later, onto computer screens. There were few times in my life where I haven’t been writing. And I’m still learning so much! But I never published, often giving up on projects only half-drafted. Now, I’m finally at a place in life where I’ve decided to stop being afraid of success or failure.

I’m just gonna do it.

So what do I write? I love writing fantasy/scif-fi, and, even though I am asexual and aromantic, I love writing about relationships within those genres. I’m really big on being inclusive in my work. (So is it going to be gay? Oh, yeah, it’s going to be gay.) I’m a dogged researcher, determined to get the details right. Mostly, I want to tell a good story that makes a reader go through all the emotions I had to in the writing and finish the book feeling satisfied.

And, hey, if I only make a few people’s day better for having read it—Success!  <3

Snippet

I'll be working on a sample of my writing to share. Much love!
